Dryer Vent Cleaning
Dryer Vent Cleaning tends to get overlooked in annual home maintenance. There are several reasons to get your dryer vent professionally cleaned.
Dryer vents often build up with lint. Lint is a great fire starter for camping but you don’t want a fire in your dryer vent! According to the National Fire Protection Association from 2010-2014 the majority of house fires (94%) involved clothes dryers.
It is a great idea to hang dry your clothes so that you don’t use as much energy to dry your clothes in a dryer, however it is also great to be able to use a clothes dryer when you need it. If you use a clothes dryer, it is best for it to run as efficiently as possible. When the dryer vent is clean it runs at optimal efficiency meaning better airflow, less time to dry clothes, and less money spent on your electric bill.
Dryers can be damaged from running it while the dryer vent is clogged. Many times on newer dryers, error codes will show up on the display if there is a clogged dryer vent. If you continue to run the dryer while there is an error code, it can lead to dryer failure and can be very costly to repair or replace the dryer.
When a dryer vent is clogged it can lead to condensation buildup in the dryer vent. This increases the chance that mold and mildew can become a problem within the vent pipe.

Hess Home Services LLC is owned by Ben Hess. After working for a local property management company for a number of years he decided to start his own dryer vent cleaning and handyman business. He desires to serve his neighbors, “to not sweat the small stuff,” so that they can enjoy their home in the mountains of Crested Butte, Colorado.
Here is a little info about me and my family.
My wife and I grew up in the mountains of Pennsylvania and were married in 2007. While living in Pennsylvania we worked on the family dairy farm. We decided we wanted to move west. So in 2009, we moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado. While living there I worked mostly in the cycling industry. Mountain biking has always been a passion of mine. Our oldest son was born there but we decided to move back to Pennsylvania in 2015 as I had the calling and opportunity to be an associate pastor at a local congregation there. I also ran a small coffee roasting business, while living there. During this time our youngest three children were born. In 2022 we had the opportunity to move to Crested Butte. We love having Crested Butte as our home, with plenty of room to ski and mountain bike. We enjoy the many outdoor activities that are so easily accessible in this area. It is truly a joy for us to be part of the Crested Butte community. We are involved in the local school, and the local church, and we love to connect with our neighbors and visitors in this wonderful town.
